Million Dollar Baby

BR and I saw this movie over the weekend.

Wow.
Hillary Swank, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman were ALL amazing and deserve awards, money and praise. I am afraid I will have to get in line.

All the characters in this movie were excellent. The plot was not the usual expectations in a sports story. They gave a audience a lot of credit. The photography was subtle and beautiful even in depicting horrible things.

The Cooler

The unluckiest man in Vegas (William H. Macy) - a guy whose bad luck is contagious - is used by the last of the old time mob run casinos to kill high rollers' action. That is, until he falls in love with a cocktail waitress (Maria Bello) and gets "lady luck," which throws the situation into reverse. Things turn nasty when the casino director (Alec Baldwin) tries to break up the romance.

I love Macy's work. But, I didn't like this movie.

--I am so over movies about Las Vegas.

LOTRs Marathon

Next weekend I am attending a serious numathon.

A friend, who has a sweet home theater (100 in HDTV), is hosting an all day, 12 hour, extended edition, 10am-10pm, lunch and dinner included, Lord of the Rings marathon.

I will be wearing my sweats. I may even take my slippers. Maybe even my coffee carafe!
